These At-Home Jobs Let You Work Whenever You Want


One of the most frequent requests among my community is at-home jobs that let you work whenever you want. Many of you out there have day jobs, important caregiver responsibilities and other obligations that wouldn’t accommodate a strict schedule. You really need to be able to come and go as you please. I get that!

This list is for you. Whether you need a job that will allow you to make your own schedule or you just want to work whenever you can, I hope there is something here for you.

Transcription Jobs

This list is for you. #workfromhome #workathomejobs #makemoney #extramoneyThe transcription industry has really picked up in popularity among those needing a flexible schedule. Most of these companies allow you to pick up as much or as little work as you want, whenever you want. It is imperative that you have fast typing and great grammar skills, however. These jobs are most often production-based pay, so the faster and more accurately you can complete files the more you can make.

Rev.com

Rev.com provides work from home transcription jobs with flexible hours. You can choose what projects you would like to work on and when you want to complete work. No at-home office is required, you can work anywhere you have a computer! Transcription projects include lectures, podcasts and interviews. Rev pays weekly with the average monthly salary being $245. Payment is issued every Monday via PayPal.

TranscribeMe

TranscribeMe hires at home transcribers who want flexibility and a steady workstream. The hours are completely flexible and you can work from anywhere you have computer and internet access! Earnings start at $15-22 USD per audio hour. Some specialized. more difficult projects such as medical and legal transcriptions offer higher pay. No experience is necessary for most transcription positions on the site. Payment is issued weekly via PayPal.

Speakwrite

SpeakWrite hires experienced Transcriptionists to work from home. They are looking for general, legal and Spanish language transcriptionists who want flexible working hours. You are able to set your own hours and work schedule as an independent contractor. The average transcriber earns $300+ at SpeakWrite. Applicants must be legal to work in Canada or the US and type at least 60 wpm.

Small Task Sites

Micro job sites can be great for those looking for a little extra spending money. They don’t pay the best but they don’t require much of a commitment either. These small tasks typically only take a few minutes to complete and there usually isn’t a long training process either.

mTurk

Amazon hires Mechanical Turks who want to work from home doing computer-based tasks for their clients. Turkers will conduct varied tasks such as choosing product images, deleting duplicate images and filling out surveys. Log in whenever you have free time and want to work, work can be completed from anywhere with internet access! Payment for each task varies. You can choose as many projects as you like to earn money.

Fancy Hands

Fancy Hands hires virtual assistants to work from home. Tasks for virtual assistants are varied and the work is flexible. Virtual assistants must have a computer, high-speed internet and a headset. Payment for each task starts at $3-7 and goes up from there depending on the complexity and time required. Payment is issued every other Tuesday. Hours are very flexible and tasks can be done around the clock. Payment is currently by Dwolla only.

Freelance Writing

I’ve always been a big fan of freelance writing jobs for those looking to work whenever they want. Whether it’s working for your own clients or picking up tasks at a content mill, you can usually work wherever and whenever you want as long as you can meet your deadlines.

Textbroker

Textbroker offers writers an opportunity to work from anywhere in the world and get paid. Being a freelancer writer through Textbroker allows you to choose your own schedule and work as much or as little as you like. You can choose from hundreds of available orders so you are sure to find a project that interests you. An experienced team of editors regularly view and offer feedback on your articles so there’s an opportunity to improve your writing skills. Payment is issued each week and income varies based on the quality of your work and feedback given.

Express Writers

Express Writers has opportunities for freelance writers to work from home as e-commerce description writers. Writers will create short posts and descriptions about a variety of subjects. Posts usually need to be about 350-400 words each. Successful applicants should have good research skills, SEO knowledge and speak fluent English.

ClearVoice

Clear Voice is an online platform connecting freelancers to clients for a variety of work. Freelancers can set their own rate and state their expertise, so they can be matched with great clients. Freelancers through Clear Voice can enjoy a flexible schedule, setting their own prices and quick pay via PayPal. Freelancers should have a computer and high-speed internet. Work through Clear Voice can be done anywhere in the world!

Evaluator Jobs

Ad and search evaluation have long been a favorite among my community members. Project commitments at these companies vary. You may need to commit to 5 to 20 hours per week, but the work can typically be completed on your own schedule. And some can even be done with just your smartphone. These two companies offer other positions as well, including transcription and translation.

Appen

Appen offers a diverse variety of work from home jobs for independent contractors from around the world. Just a few of these positions include translations, social media evaluation, data annotation and AI testing. Applicants must be familiar with social media and have an up to date computer and internet access. Different projects require different skills and backgrounds. Appen offers part-time work with some recent positions requiring a commitment of at least 7 hours weekly. Appen pays monthly.

Lionbridge

Lionbridge offers a variety of work from home computer jobs. Jobs include social media evaluating, testing, internet interpreting and translating. Lionbridge offers part-time work, and as a freelancer, you can enjoy creating your own schedule and having flexibility in tasks you choose. Payment can either be task-based or per hour. Workers must have a computer and smartphone less than three years old.

Driving Gig

If you are truly looking for a gig that can be done at your discretion, consider driving. From restaurant deliveries to transporting passengers, there is so much variety these days. These gigs usually pay by-the-ride or by-the-delivery, but most companies have a tip system in place.

Postmates

Postmates hires independent contractors to make deliveries. This company offers weekly guarantees and allows drivers to keep 100% of the tips they receive. The app will even help you identify the busiest times and places in your city in hopes of upping your earnings.

Lyft

Make extra money driving people around in your free time with Lyft. Lyft is a ride-sharing service that allows you to choose your own schedule and hours. If you feel like working, just log onto the app and start accepting rides. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have a clean driving record. Drivers must have a 4-door vehicle newer than 2004 and a smartphone. Lyft drivers get to keep 100% of tips they earn, as well as a flat fee per ride.

Doordash

Doordash seeks drivers who want to be their own boss and create their own schedules. Drivers deliver food and other goods from local merchants to customers. Drivers must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license. The site says you can earn up to $18 per hour and keep 100% of your tips!

Unique Gigs

Maybe you are looking for something different. Don’t worry. We have got you covered! These unique opportunities to work whenever you want may require a specialized skill set. But, if you got it, flaunt it!

Wunderkin

Wunderkin is hiring talented seamstresses to work from home creating children’s bows. Applicants must make a sample of six trial bows to be considered. Wunderkin hires both part-time and full-time bow makers. Seamstresses make between $15-20 per hour depending on skill level and speed. Wunderkin will deliver the fabric and materials to your home if hired.

Shutterstock

Shutterstock hires image reviewers to work from home. Image reviewers responsibilities include making sure photos meet technical standards and restriction expectations, detect fraud and ensure editorial integrity. Editorial image reviewers will need two or more years of photography experience. Reviewers will need a computer with accurate color display and high speed internet.

Telelanguage

Telelanguage is hiring at home phone interpreters. Workers must be fluent in English and at least one other language and have at least one years experience as an interpreter. A secure and reliable phone line to make calls on is necessary for this job. As a freelance employee, you will be able to have the freedom to create your own schedule and earn money on your own terms.

Set Your Own Schedule Jobs

There are some jobs that may require you to work a certain number of hours per week. But, there are some companies that will allow you to set your own schedule on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis.

ModSquad

ModSquad offers freelance workers the opportunity to join their team of digital engagement services. Many services offered through ModSquad including live chat help, forums and social media. Workers are able to set their own schedule, allowing great flexibility. With many jobs offered at Mod Squad, you can find something that best suits your skills and needs. Requirements at Mod Squad are post-specific but at a minimum, you will only need a computer, internet and quiet working space. Mod Squad hires from all over the world, so you may be able to take this job with you if you are traveling.

OnPoint Advocacy

OnPoint@Home hires at-home workers who want to make a difference by calling and letter writing. Contractors work on exciting and interesting projects, there is always something new or different available. There are no fundraising or sales calls, only outbound calls to potential leads. Writers will assist in letter writing regarding important current event issues. Workers must have a PC, internet connection and headset.

NextWave Advocacy

NextWave Advocacy hires independent contractors for writing and calling jobs at home as well. Contractors are responsible for calling and interviewing supporters for political issues. Writers listen and translate people’s stories about how an issue affects them. Applicants must be legal to work in the US, have high-speed internet, a headset and access to a printer. Each client campaign is different so projects may last a few weeks or a few months. As an independent contractor, you are free to choose your own projects.

Yardi Matrix

Yardi Matrix is a subscription-based market research company and hires workers to do rent surveys from home. The work is part-time, temporary work and offers flexible scheduling. You will need high-speed internet, good phone etiquette, and an unlimited long distance plan. Payment is issued weekly.

Time Etc

Time Etc. is hiring virtual assistants that want to work from home. As a Virtual Assistant, your job is to complete a wide variety of personal assistant and administration tasks. Applicants must be able to work part-time hours Monday-Friday. At least 2-3 years of experience is preferred. Workers should have their own computer with Microsoft Office Suite software.

Magic Ears

Magic Ears connects North American educators with Chinese students. Magic Ears provides you all the lesson material, all you do is provide any supplementary tools you like. (Read more about that here.) Teachers conduct educational lessons to 1-4 students at a time. Pays at the time of writing this post reportedly ranges from $22-26 per hour. Applicants must have Canadian or US Citizenship and hold a bachelor’s degree in any subject. Teachers need a computer with a webcam, high-speed internet and quiet teaching space.

VIPKID

VIPkid is a Chinese based education company hiring freelance language tutors from North America. Lessons are English based- no Chinese language skills required! Each lesson is 25 minutes long and usually with one individual student. Teachers can choose their availability each week with no minimum weekly requirements. All lesson materials are provided, but teachers can add supplementary tools to make lessons more fun. Payment ranges between $14-22 per hour. Payment is issued monthly via direct deposit. Teachers must have a bachelor’s degree.

Swagbucks offers opportunities to earn money in different ways all from home. Log in whenever you want and start earning Swagbucks that can translate into money and gift cards. Earning opportunities include filling in surveys, using their search bar, watching videos and signing up for offers. No experience or commitment is required!
